Good news reached us from Egypt during this Easter tide: On 9th March the youngest foundation of the Benedictine Missionaries of St. Ottilien was inaugurated in Egypt. The Catholic Coptic Patriarch, Ibrahim Sidrak, celebrated holy Eucharist on this occasion. We wish our confreres and the Monastery St. Benedict God’s abundant blessing for the future. Egypt is the place where monastic life begun and made its first steps. She is the country of the Desert Fathers, of people like the holy Abad Anthony and Saint Pachomius. Today, centuries later, our Congregation of St. Ottilien becomes present there.
We invite with these few lines all our friends to pray for this new foundation so that – as Saint Benedict says – In everything may God be glorified.
